Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Q: Do your chargers display fault codes for troubleshooting?
A:
Yes, all Pro, SE, XL, and Eagle Series chargers manufactured since 2007 display fault codes. Here’s what they mean:

  • 1 RED BLINKING LED: No Battery Detected
Check connections for proper polarity (black wire to negative). Contact us if the issue persists.
  • 2 RED BLINKING LEDS: Forming Stage Timeout
The charger terminates if battery voltage does not rise above 1.75 volts per cell within 3 hours. Reset by unplugging and reconnecting the charger.
  • 3 RED BLINKING LEDS: Overall Timer Shutdown
The charger terminates if the charge cycle exceeds the factory-set time. Reset by unplugging and reconnecting the charger.
  • 4 RED BLINKING LEDS: Internal Overtemp Shutdown
The charger shuts down if internal temperatures exceed specified levels. Allow the unit to cool and reset.
  • 5 RED BLINKING LEDS: Overvoltage Protection
This indicates a possible output defect. Discontinue use and contact technical support.

Q: Is it normal for my charger to hum even when fully charged?
A:
Yes, a slight hum is normal when plugged into AC power. If the green lights are on, the charger is in standby mode.

Q: Do I need to remove the jumper wire between batteries when using my Dual Pro Charger on a 24V system?
A:
No, the charger’s independent banks can charge each battery simultaneously without removing the jumper.

Q: Why won’t my charger start charging after a long period of inactivity?
A:
If batteries have been unused for a long time, their voltage may fall below the charger’s threshold. Use a manual charger briefly to raise the voltage, then reconnect the PCS charger.

Q: One bank on my charger isn’t working. What should I do?
A:
Swap the affected bank with a working bank. If the problem moves, it’s likely the battery. If the same bank remains unresponsive, contact us for support.

Q: Can I extend my charger’s cables?A: Yes, but only at the ring terminal location. Do not cut the black casing, as it contains the temperature sensor. Use a minimum of 14 AWG cable for extensions.
